  • Kane Slater

    Kane Slater

Kane Slater, Founder of the Yarnbala Foundation was born and raised on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula, where his deep connection to the bush and ocean began early in life. Nature offered him a sense of wonder, safety, and belonging—values that continue to guide his commitment to conservation today.

After travelling across Australia and overseas, Kane returned home with a renewed appreciation for the Eyre Peninsula’s unique and irreplaceable ecosystems. Alongside Brooke Slater, he co-founded an eco-sustainable business in Coffin Bay, starting with a simple intention: to care for a pristine patch of bushland. That intention grew into years of immersive, hands-on work in habitat restoration, environmental education, and regenerative thinking.

The Yarnbala Foundation emerged from this journey—a natural progression of Kane’s vision to inspire action, strengthen community connection to the land, and create long-term solutions for biodiversity protection. Kane believes conservation must go beyond protection; it must involve active regeneration, resilience-building, and a shift in how we relate to the natural world.

His mission is clear: to protect and restore the wild, and to help others recognise that nature is not just beautiful—it’s vital. If we care for nature, nature will care for us.
